the black tibetans - gilby clarke sessions

“The Black Tibetans was formed for one reason and one reason only - For the LOVE of Rock n’ Roll.

Pure passion and energy. The main concept was for the music to be fast, loud and 3 chords. Songs about girls, motorcycles and death.

Our first gig was in Las Vegas in 2008 at a DicE party in a dive bar. From memory it was a bit of a shambles and extremely chaotic. I left the stage more than frustrated and walked to the bar for a beer or 5 to get over it.

The first person I bumped into was our dear friend Gilby Clarke who had ridden his Panhead all the way out from LA fore the party. He was hyped and said he absolutely loved it. Woah…maybe it wasn’t as bad as I thought.

Fast forward to 2009 and we are looking to record our first demo. I knew Gilby had a studio in his home and I called him to see what he thought. My first words were…”Gilby!!! We really want to record a session and we wanted to see if we could have you produce it…oh and we have NO BUDGET!”

Being the gentleman that he is, he laughed…then replied, “I’d love to record you guys!” He asked what our influences were and I told him; “The Sonics, Dr Feelgood, The Pirates…oh and that new band, The Bronx! They have a fantastic self titled album and it’s brilliant. Gilby responded with, “Oh yeah I know that album, I did that record at my house!” Say no more!

We never released these 6 tracks because we couldn’t afford to do it back then…so 17 years later…here they are!!

Available now on all streaming platforms.

THANK YOU GILBY CLARKE!!!”
